About me
I’m Joshua Were, a Kenyan student at Columbia University passionate about creativity, technology, and sustainability. I love blending technical skills with artistic vision to bring ideas to life in ways that are both impactful and authentic. I conduct sustainable research at Columbia and NASA, exploring how computational modeling and machine learning can help tackle climate-driven challenges like wildfires and flooding. I’ve also gained hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, creating and analyzing polymers while applying Python and machine learning to study trends. Creatively, I work across video and music production, 3D design, computational media, and digital content creation. I fell in love with making during the pandemic through game development on Roblox, and now I lead larger projects, including Saving Creative Lives, which has exposed over 200 students in underserved communities to programming, 3D modeling, music, photography, and STEM. If I had one dream, it would be living in an apartment with an amazing view of a city or mountains, while I create songs, projects, and art that inspire others to explore their creativity and push boundaries.
I enjoy 3D modeling, creating in Roblox Studio, and experimenting with sound and music. Every project I make is an exploration of curiosity, creativity, and pushing boundaries. I aim to inspire others to find passion in the small, overlooked corners of life and express themselves through art and technology.
